| Geneva, Switzerland – 22 May 2003 – RSD (Roger Software Development) announces the release of EOS version 1.4 for z/OS servers, addressing enterprise requirements to efficiently handle the ever-increasing volumes of sizeable reports.
This version offers more flexible management for the storage of large reports and delivers enhanced end-user functionality. System space requirements are addressed by new functions for report capture, archive and AFP resource management. The end-user benefits from new list-sorting capabilities and a more flexible Table of Contents.
For sizable reports, Fast Capture provides significant performance gains while reducing the spool handling. It limits the use of the spool during capture by recording the source data in an external file, while writing only control information in the EOS spool. Depending on its size, when the report is captured, the enterprise can flexibly choose between Fast Capture and the existing Centralized Capture as reports captured by either method can reside on the same spool.
To support the increased volumes of information, EOS archiving now allows practically unlimited capacity in size and archival duration with the enhanced Archive Master Index facility to allocate up to 16 volumes.
For installations where AFP reports are used extensively, new functions permit the management of space allocation for AFP resources.
End-user access to report information is impacted by the new sort functionality and enhanced Table of Contents (TOC) definition. When sorting is set on the server, both EOS Thin Client and EOS Java APIs deliver on-the-fly sorting of report and TOC lists. The extension of the TOC definition from 8 to 16 fields provides more powerful capabilities when searching a list of TOC entries.
"RSD solutions stand out for their ability to support high-volume environments. Most of our customers face the challenge of processing, distributing and archiving an ever-increasing amount of data in ever-decreasing time frames. This new release of EOS for z/OS specifically addresses this challenge" explains Alain Després, RSD's Managing Director.
