| Geneva, Switzerland – 25 November 2002 – RSD (Roger Software Development) announces that the latest release of the Enterprise Output Solution (EOS) v.1.3.0 for Unix and Windows servers supports an additional platform, Linux/390 and interfaces with LDAP.
In line with RSD's commitment to seamlessly integrate EOS into the enterprise computing environment, Linux/390 has been added to the list of supported platforms. It extends the usage of the product by zSeries customers, combining the power of an OS/390 server with the flexibility of Linux distributed servers. Other supported Unix server platforms include: AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Linux Intel. Supported Windows server platforms include: NT,2000, XP.
For the enterprise implementing LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), users, passwords and groups defined in the central directory can now automatically be accessed by EOS, eliminating a duplication of effort and ensuring the support of enterprise security standards. The new ability of EOS to interface with LDAP is an extension of EOS existing functionality to flexibly manage security either internally, within EOS, or externally, by integrating Unix or Windows system definitions.
In addition, this release offers new features : the support of long user names (up to 32 characters), which renders the identification of users more transparent as it no longer needs acronyms for the users, and the ability to create Tables of Contents for AFP and PDF formatted documents, allowing the retrieval of only the required sections of a report.
