Structure |

The structure is similar to a filing cabinet. However, because it is electronic, it has fewer space limitations and more flexibility. The file drawer represents the top level of organization. Each drawer can contain an unlimited number of ‘hanging’ folders. Placed in each folder are the documents that relate to that subject. A document represents either a single file or a specific section of a larger physical document.
A linkage can be made between folders that are filed in different file drawers. This permits the filing of documents according to enterprise standards while providing a consolidated view of related documents for retrieval purposes. An end user can create a temporary folder to collect and keep track of documents associated with a current project. |
