RSD GLASS is the first information governance platform that addresses all phases of the enterprise information lifecycle. RSD GLASS helps organizations manage corporate risk and improve operational efficiency as they achieve compliance with regulations and laws governing enterprise information and records management.
“At PSA Peugeot Citroën, we clearly recognize the importance of establishing a comprehensive, enterprise-wide Information Governance program, as one key issue of our Excellence System. Our information governance program mitigates risk related to the exponential growth of electronic information flows and unstructured information in a global context for PSA Peugeot Citroën Group.“ said Daniel Colas, Head of document and record management, PSA Peugeot Citroën.
“As a first step we plan a project for the entire company to set up records management governance by the end of 2011 based on version 2.2 of RSD GLASS available in June 2011. Toward this goal, RSD GLASS will be used in three areas: design documents, supply chain documents and physical records.” said Yves Sarazin, SAE Project Manager, PSA Peugeot Citroën.
During this first phase of their project, PSA Peugeot Citroën will use RSD GLASS in three major areas in order to:
- centralize information governance policy creation and management;
- provide complete archiving services and lifecycle management for car design records and supply chain records;
- manage within the same solution the accessioning of physical records to off-site or internal storage.
Future phases include the application of the solution to other records within PSA Peugeot Citroën, such as Legal and HR documents.
As an automobile manufacturer, PSA Peugeot Citroën operates in one of the world’s most heavily regulated industries. The volume of documents and information relating to car and service design, manufacture, distribution, and financing is measured in the tens of millions per year and require complex, structured and cross-referenced file plans that reflect model years and engine models. Also the information in question takes the form of unstructured documents as well as highly structured data in engineering and design centric applications.
“When it comes to information governance, PSA Peugeot Citroën operates in an extremely demanding sector. As an industry leader, they require a platform which can handle high volume, manage a sophisticated records classification plan, apply it across multiple jurisdictions, and address the requirements of a lifecycle which can extend to many decades,” said Pierre Van Beneden, RSD CEO. “As we learned through the evaluation process, few can meet these requirements. We are extremely proud that RSD GLASS met the challenge and look forward to continuing our long standing relationship with PSA Peugeot Citroën.”
Current records management and enterprise information management solutions address the information governance challenge “from the bottom up” by hard-wiring their policy and enforcement capabilities to proprietary repositories. RSD GLASS takes a top down approach: central policy management, federated enforcement, and repository agnosticism.
No industry solution available today, including those evaluated by PSA Peugeot Citroën during their selection process, offers these three essential breakthroughs.
“RSD has been in the output management and archiving business for over 35 years,” said Bassam Zarkout, RSD CTO. “We have clearly seen where our customers are struggling to achieve information governance objectives – and why. Businesses are held hostage by legacy records management solutions which create disconnected information silos of hardened concrete, with no flexibility and no support for information stored outside traditional ECM repositories. Where legacy systems limit policy scope to record retention and disposition, RSD GLASS extends policy to include data privacy and hierarchical storage considerations. Where traditional approaches yield policies recorded on paper or in spreadsheets, RSD delivers complex classifications in both human- and machine-readable form. With RSD GLASS, they can at last gain control over lifecycle management – with a unified yet jurisdiction-specific facility for enforcement of policy across all of their content repositories. No more ‘swivel-chair’ system and records administration, and associated cost and opportunity for human error. We are extremely pleased to have been able to bring these benefits to an organization as sophisticated and demanding as PSA Peugeot Citroën.”
