| Geneva,
Switzerland – February 27, 2003 - RSD introduces its
new EOS Thin Client 2.0 based on Java servlets and J2EE technology,
offering extensive functionality for users and product administrators.
This ready-to-use Web-enabled client interface accesses
business critical information stored in one or more EOS databases.
Its full compliance with the J2EE specification ensures a
secure, robust application operating across the enterprise
computer environment.
The burden on IT resources, to install and maintain the application,
is noticeably reduced by eliminating the deployment of client
software on the user computer and providing top level customization
in accordance with workflow requirements. The administration
module can be used to set defaults for servers accessed, language
for help and screens, information shown in report lists and
filters to limit these lists. To improve user productivity,
ready-to-apply report transform and formatting templates can
be made available and where AFP viewing software is unavailable,
AFP reports can be set to open, on-the-fly, in PDF format.
Java servlets guarantee significantly faster browser-access
and offer a sophisticated toolset, previously available only
with PC applications. To ensure that users can rapidly see
pertinent information, our Thin Client provides functionality
to:
- Use pre-defined indexes to instantaneously access the
desired section of a report.
- Filter the list of reports to those that are relevant
and customize its "look".
- Export a report in its original format.
- Benefit by accessing the already personalized interface
defined by the application administrator.
In addition, when displaying a text report, users can:
- Analyze report information locally. For text reports,
this transform function outputs only specified data in a
format immediately usable by most PC applications (for example
Microsoft Excel) and eliminates the need for intervention
by application personnel to generate special "download"
reports.
- Perform powerful searches and choose how to display the
results of the find operation.
- Format the report (freezing lines and columns) for a more
comprehensible display.
"In keeping with RSD goals, this full-featured user-centric
interface uses the latest technology to ensure that the enterprise
can deliver essential information anytime, anyplace, regardless
of where and in what format it is stored," says Alain
Després, Managing Director at RSD.
