Form an IG Steering committee

How do you embark on an IG journey?

In a 4 part series, we will take you through the steps needed to successfully implement an information governance program.

Step 1 of 4

Peace. Love. Happiness.

For the holiday, we challenged the children of RSD to come up with their own special artwork to celebrate the upcoming year. As we sat down to discuss what themes would trigger children’s creativity we came up with two: “World of Colors” and “Peace. Love. Happiness.”

With the Thanksgiving holiday rapidly approaching, and the new year just around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to reflect on some things in our information governance world to be wishful and thankful for:

  1. Organizations that understand and accept that information governance programs must have an executive sponsor like a CIO, CDO, CIGO to ensure success
  2. Executive sponsors who are empowering steering committees comprised of key departmental stakeholders to...

Seems like a lot of acronyms for the title of a blog…

I have just returned, and I am still recovering, from the 2014 ARMA (Association of Records Managers and Administrators (hope I got that right)) conference in San Diego. This year visitors to the RSD booth #1419 got to learn more about our SMART (Simple, Measurable, Achievable, Repeatable, Transformational) IG (Information Governance) program powered by RSD GLASS®...

Baseball fans out there know that yesterday the Kansas Royals won the American League Championship and earned their first berth to the World Series since 1985, when the team last made the playoffs and won the World Series.  My home and favorite team is the Tampa Bay Rays, but I have really come to appreciate the Royals during these playoffs...

Information is still getting created at a faster pace than organizations are able to analyze and extract the value from that information.  That means the potential value of the information is in many ways potentially greater than the actual value an organization is getting today.  This is driving the emergence of Infonomics.  How many times do we hear corporate executives say “that information is one of their company's greatest assets”? But rarely do they truly understand,...

I just returned from a trip to Adelaide Australia were I did two presentations on transforming to Information Governance for RIMPA, Records and Information Professionals Australasia.  RIMPA is the Asia Pacific equivalent of ARMA North America and each year they hold a conference to educate RIM professionals on records and information management.

Before I elaborate on the conference first let me tell you a little bit about the city of Adelaide and the state of South Australia...

What exactly is metadata?  Most Records Managers inherently understand its purpose and value, but for those outside the profession it can be a mystery.
